Trying to find pages on Military-speak, i.e. words that people in the military would use (such as asses to elbows) or use without realizing the phrases are jargonized.
Probably one of the more difficult searches since I'm fairly unfamiliar with the topic. Initial appoach: search with ``+military +vernacular''; unfortunately this doesn't consider what type of person would write a summary of words that would likely be used by someone in the military (that is, how many members of the military would refer to the speech they use as vernacular?). Likely the only type of person whould would use ``vernacular'' would be an academic, and since I'm looking for actual words, this would be unlikely to work. Searching on the obvious ``asses to elbows'' phrase turns up some obvious (after you search for it). Best hit was on ``+army +jargon''. My guess is that people in the military align themselves more with the particular division than with being generally "in the army". Additional searches might center around just the marines and their language.
